TOP SUMMER VACATION DESTINATIONS

Where are your listeners headed for summer vacation this year?  According to the American Society of Travel Agents’ 2009 Hot Spots for Summer survey, for the seventh year in a row, Orlando and Las Vegas remain the most popular summer destinations. Here is a list of the top ten domestic summer vacation destinations:

1.    Orlando

2.    Las Vegas

3.    San Francisco

4.    Los Angeles

5.    Miami

6.    Honolulu

7.    San Diego

8.    Washington D.C.

9.    Chicago

10.   New York City

For Americans travelling abroad, Italy (18.1%) remained the top international country/region for summer travel.  Mexico (17.1%) came in second, and the United Kingdom (12.3%) was third.  However, last year both Italy and the United Kingdom had larger percentage shares, which probably means less of us are taking the weak dollar to Europe and spending it instead in more affordable places like Mexico.
