BORED KIDS FESTIVAL

As the summer wears on parents will begin to run out of things to do with their kids creating a lot of bored kids and tortured parents. You could capitalize on this communal ennui by creating a fun event for kids and their parents and call it the ‘I’m So Bored’ Family Fest. This event could include food and drink, video showings, story tellers (which could be one or more of your air personalities), magicians, clowns, costumed characters, face painting, arts and crafts classes, and other kid-friendly entertainment.

You could also stage all manner of competitions such as the traditional egg toss and sack race-type games along with some more high tech competitions involving popular video games. The winners of each contest could win prizes of value, or just create a T-shirt that says something like “I am a (call letters) Bored Kid Fest winner”. This event could be held inside or outside depending upon what specific events you decide to include. The bored kids and their parents in your audience will thank you if you do this for them somewhere around the middle of July or in August, depending upon your market’s back-to-school schedule.
