VACATIONS CLOSE TO HOME

One of the industries that is suffering in this bad economy is the hotel business.  Occupancy rates are at an all-time low and hotels all over the country are offering great deals right now and looking for ways to promote them inexpensively.  You can take advantage of the unbooked rooms at hotels and resorts in your area and make great deals with them to create “Stay-Cations” or weekend packages to give away on the air. Most of your listeners will never get the opportunity to stay at one of the nice resorts in your market and would love a chance to stay at one.  Plus, close-to-home weekend mini-vacations are easier for people to take advantage of than longer vacations far away from home.

Pick a resort or hotel with a nice pool or, better yet, water park-like elements.  Try to build in extras like spa visits, meals, golf, etc.  Put some sort of welcome basket with snacks and items with your call letters  in each winner’s room before the listeners arrive. Include a personalized letter from the station, or better yet, one of the air personalities.  Consider arranging brunch or lunch for the winners with your morning show to add a “you can’t buy it, only win it” element to the package.  Arranging this in a private room would make it even more exclusive and attractive to your listeners.
