VACATION BEHAVIOR SURVEY

We drink more alcohol and eat more junk food while on summer vacation.   Those are some of the facts from a new survey about vacation behavior conducted by the Tourism Exchange Company.  Here are a few more:

36% said they are more likely to drink alcohol on summer vacation than while at home.  The favorite summer drink was margaritas (18%).

25% said they will be more romantic while on summer vacation and 26% said they are friendlier to strangers when they are away on summer trips.

25% said they exercise less, while 25% said they eat more junk food.  The top summer travel food indulgence is overwhelmingly ice cream, according 44% of those surveyed.

63% connect to the Internet less, 56% watch less television and 52% return fewer calls and emails.

Not surprisingly, most respondents said they are finding ways to cut costs on vacation this year.  Most, 36%,  plan to save money by eating out and going out less on vacation this year, while 32% said the top way they plan to save is by visiting free attractions.
