STUPID GUY THING DAY

June 22nd is officially Stupid Guy Thing Day. I’m not kidding. It’s an actual declared day! Stupid Guy Thing Day is designated as a day to commemorate all of the stupid things guys do. Here are some ways you could celebrate it on the air:

1. The simplest way to mark this special day is to take calls from listeners talking about the stupidest thing they have ever seen a guy do. Make a list of the top three and reveal them in the final break of the bit.

2. Come up with something stupid a guy on the show has always wanted to do and have him go and try to do that Stupid Guy Stunt on the air on Stupid Guy Thing Day. The stupid thing could be something like sneaking into a ball park without paying, walking down a bowling alley in street shoes, or any imaginable stupid guy thing that you can conceive of. Make sure that he takes a cell phone to give some play-by-play on the air.

3. Create a Stupid Guy Thing Competition. This could be done as an on-air or off -air idea depending upon how you choose to execute it. How ever you execute it, it still could be called something like Who’s the Stupidist Guy Listening To Us?

To do an on-air version, come up with some stupid things that only guys do that have audio involved in them like making fart noises by putting their hands under their arms or belching. Pick the guy who does the best version of the stupid guy thing and name him The Stupidest Guy Listening To Us.

To do an off-air version, you could create a series of stupid events only guys would do like eat bugs or some disgusting old food from your station’s kitchen refrigerator, hit themselves in the head with a plastic bat as many times as they can or just about anything you can think about that is just plain stupid to do. Record some audio of the event to edit and play on the air the next day. The last guy standing becomes your radio station’s Stupidist Guy 2009 and retains that honor for the rest of the year. Make up a T-shirt and frame-able certificate to give the winner. Now there’s something that will make his momma proud!
