GEORGE WASHINGTON WAS AN ADULTURER

With the 4th of July looming, some of our thoughts turn towards those high-minded men who risked their lives to free all Americans.  Despite all of their great deeds, our founding fathers were far from perfect human beings.

George Washington was not only our first President, but he was also our first “philanderer-in-chief”.  Washington was known or suspected to have had adulterous affairs with at least nine women, including Theodosia Prevost Burr, the wife of Thomas Jefferson’s Vice President Aaron Burr.

According to the official version of Washington’s death, he died of a chill he caught while riding his horse in the snow.  But another, more likely version, of the story is that Washington caught his death when he jumped out of a window trouser-less after an assignation with an employee’s wife at Mount Vernon.
