THAT’S ONE BAD CASE OF THE UGLIESDecember 7th is NBA basketball player Larry Bird’s 53rd birthday. Now, while Larry was a great basketball player for the Boston Celtics in his day, I don’t think anyone ever considered him to be one of America’s sexiest guys. That got me thinking about “People Who Are Lucky To Have Gotten Talent Because They Sure Didn’t Get Good Looks”. Guys like Derek Jeter, the impossibly handsome shortstop for the New York Yankees, are a rarity. Most of us don’t get it all. Think about it. How many people can you name who got brains, brawn, talent, money and good looks? However, there are few poor souls who, like Larry Bird, whose talent ratio is much greater than that of their physical attractiveness. For example, I’d have to add San Francisco Giants pitcher Randy Johnson to my list. While “The Big Unit” has one of the most dominant fastballs in baseball, he also got Halloween-friendly looks. And then there’s Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Lyle Lovett who looks like a cross between a cockatoo and a Muppet. Consider soliciting your audience to add to this list of People Who Got More Talent Than Looks. |
