ARE CELEBRITY MARRIAGES MORE LIKELY TO END IN DIVORCE?

People Magazine has reported that Tiger Woods’ wife Elin Nordegren is leaving him and filing for divorce. AT&T also announced it is dropping him as its spokesperson because of his now-famous extramarital affair. It seems like every day we hear about another celebrity marriage that is ending, which raises the question, are celebrity marriages more likely to end in divorce than those of us non-famous people? Not surprisingly the answer is yes.

Celebrity marriages fail on average 50% of the time, compared to 31% for non-celebs. Among the main reasons for this high divorce rate is the constant temptation of beautiful men and women coming out of the proverbial woodwork and the weak personalities of celebrities who, like Tiger, could not avoid the temptation.
