WHAT PERCENTAGE OF AMERICANS FOLLOW PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL?

As we head into another weekend of NFL playoff football, it seems that almost everyone seems to be following the process.  But, how many people really do follow the game?  Apparently America is a nation of football lovers.  65% of American men and 39% of women follow pro football.

That caused me to think about the 35% of men who do not follow football.  The size of that number surprised me.  If you’re a woman, it’s perfectly okay not to be knowledgeable about the game of football, but guys get shunned by other guys if they can’t speak fluent football.  I have a brother who is chiropractor in Florida and he has no interest in football, but he has to learn something about every week’s Tampa Bay game so that he can converse intelligently with his male and some female clients.

This brings up the topic, “I Don’t Care About Football and I’m Proud of it!” Solicit your male listeners who are disinterest in football to come out of hiding and tell you why they don’t follow the game.  Try to find out what, if anything, could make them be interested and follow the sport or what about it that turns them off.  You could also arrange some kind of listener event for the men and women who don’t follow the game so they could hook up during the playoffs this year.
