DO WE REALLY NEED ANOTHER MOVIE ABOUT ROBIN HOOD?

This weekend, yet another version of the Robin Hood story hits movie theaters. This time it’s Russell Crowe as the guy who robs from the rich and gives to the poor and Cate Blanchett as Maid Marion in Ridley Scott’s rendition of the classic story.

According to one source, there have been over 50 movies in which the Robin Hood character has been portrayed. Which brings to mind the thought, do we really need another movie about Robin Hood? What is there left to learn about this story that we haven’t already learned from the previous 50+ characterizations we’ve seen already?

This brings to mind the topic, “I Could Do Without Another Version of X.” For example, please no more Rocky movies, Rambo movies, or any movie starring Steven Seigal. Don’t get me wrong. I am a huge fan of the good Rocky movies say the first and second and whenever the original Rambo movie comes on TV I’m there. But after a while there just isn’t any more story left to tell.
