DON’T NEGOTIATE ON AN EMPTY STOMACH

If you are going to talk to your boss about a raise or buying a new car, make sure you eat something first.  Scientists at the University of South Dakota investigated the way blood glucose impacts the way we think about present and future rewards by testing subjects who had sugary or diet drinks.  When offered a small amount of money the next day or a larger sum at a later date, those with lower blood sugar tended to opt for short-term rewards.  It seems we’re more future-oriented and make better decisions when more energy is available.
