Some sites also let you swap cards. And buyers can snap up cards at those sites, paying as little as 80% of the face value. The prices offered for $50 gift cards ranged from 60% to 90% of the value depending on the site and the merchant. Walmart’s card was the most valuable.

Before you cash in on your gift cards be sure to check several websites to find the best price. According to Consumer Reports, CardPool.com and PlasticJungle.com are the best paying sites. Sites that never had the best prices were Mercardi,com MosterGift-Card.com, and GiftCardBuyBack.com, although no one site gave buyers the best deals.
