HIGH-TECH APPLIANCES ARE THE NEXT BIG THINGWhile Americans are currently obsessed with new technologies such as the iPad and iPhone, lurking just around the corner are some really cool new appliances that will revolutionize our day-to-day lives. Soon you’ll be able to buy super energy-saving dishwashers, washers, dryer, and other appliances. These appliances will be able to receive signals from your utility company. That way, they can alert you when energy costs are lowest. They will also be able to automatically adjust their operating cycle to reduce energy usage. Also on the horizon are appliances equipped with push-button repair capability. If there’s a problem with your appliance, you press a button, put your phone up to it, and call the repair number. The machine will then beep out a code to the service center at the other end, so it can pinpoint – and maybe even fix – the problem. LG washers are among the first with this cool capability. If you are sick of having to change the bags on your vacuum, keep your eye out for the new dirt-compacting vacuums. They will compress the debris they pick up so that you won’t have to replace bags or empty bagless models as often. You can find that feature on some new LG uprights starting at $300.
