August 31st is designated as Love Litigating Lawyers Day, a day set aside to back off on the usual lawyer jokes and appreciate all of the good things they do for us. One reason why lawyers get such a bad name in America might be just how many liability lawsuits are filed in this country as compared to the rest of the world. In an average year, the United States has about 42,000 lawsuits filed. In comparison, Great Britain has about 200. U.S. courts spend about half of all of their time on cases directly related to automobiles.
