HOW MUCH DOES THE AIRLINE MAKE FROM THOSE EXTRA FEES?

If you’re infuriated by those extra fees that airlines charge, I’m about to add fuel to that fire.  In 2009, U.S. airlines collected $2.7 billion in charges for checked baggage.  They collected an additional $2.4 billion in reservation change fees.

BLAME THOSE NEW AIRLINE BAG FEES ON FUEL COSTS

There has been a lot written about the airlines’ new bag fees and you can blame them on the fuel costs.  Fuel used to account for 15% of the cost of an airline tickets.  Today fuel accounts for 40% of the cost of a tickets, which reflects a 150% rise in fuel costs.
